Four students were named to the newly formed NCVV Youth Committee at the July 22 meeting of the Board of Directors. Each of the rising juniors submitted essays and were interviewed by NCVV’s Elections & Bylaws Committee members Jeff Walker, Lisa Miller, Tony Braswell and Ginny Hatfield (Chair). The students form membership of NCVV’s new Youth Committee, part of the City’s efforts among all 99 neighborhood councils to increase the involvement of young people in city governance. “NCVV should be very proud of the outstanding qualifications of these four candidates,” said Betty Wong Oyama, from the LA Department of Neighborhood Empowerment. Each student nomination was ratified by the full Board at the meeting. They were then sworn into office by Ms. Wong Oyama and began their two year terms.
