As a Valley Village resident over 25 years, I have proudly worked with school families along the Colfax corridor since 2005. With fellow parents, guardians, neighbors and businesses, we worked to develop safer schools focused on inclusivity and opportunity for our kids. My efforts have rallied volunteers for student enrichment and education, especially at Colfax, Reed and NHHS. Beyond teacher assistance, we’ve funded valuable school resources, developed entertainment industry support, inspired college and career awareness and community engagement. With fellow leaders, I have helped develop many activities over the years, including the Colfax World Fair, School Literacy and Planting Gardens, Reed’s Renaissance Faire of the Ages, Annual Community Rummage, Food and Toy Drives, Leadership and Service opportunities with Parents Association North Hollywood, and ten years of the L.A. County Scripps Regional Spelling Bee. I ask for your support with the NCVV Educational mission ahead

Thank you for taking the time to read my statement. I was raised in Van Nuys in the 80’s. I am a business and home owner in Valley Village. My goal is to preserve the Valley and keep it as the best place to live. I’ve worked in a government job for the last 15 years in Los Angeles County. I believe that if small business owners, and citizens of our community open a conversation about needs and issues, that goals can be accomplished. Small changes and small steps can make big differences. But we need to care and get involved. I care, and I would like the opportunity to help fix issues. I have personally introduced myself to many small business owners in the Valley to offer cross promotion projects. I have given many presentations to Los Angeles youth and women’s organizations on becoming a business owner. I have been a volunteer at St Cyril’s in Encino for 10 years. I am a member of the VV Home Owners Association which allows me to hear our neighbors concerns and needs. Thank you again!

I have many years of Business experience having worked in executive positions in Corporate America including Vice President of Southern Operations at Pepsi Cola during my 15 years with them. I can relate to the issues facing our small businesses because I own one myself.

As a dual small business owner and resident in VV I am excited to advocate for business owners and stakeholders alike. Having owned and operated two businesses for the last 10 years in Valley Village I understand the daily needs of our business community; I am asking for your vote to be your voice within the council and bring your concerns to their attention. In addition to a strong advocating presence, I have the energy and creativity to devise, research, connect and present various opportunities that would not only assist our small businesses, but enrich our community as a whole. I have already begun working on potential programs to submit and with your valued input we can set a course for success. My wife and I adore Valley Village and do our part to not only shop local, but to encourage future upstanding residents to join our community by recommending local retailers and super cute places to live. I would be honored to work on your behalf. Together we can do better!

A brief background about me: I am an intellectual property attorney, have been practicing for over five years, and work for an international law firm. I was born and raised in San Diego, went to undergrad in Santa Barbara, attended law school in San Francisco—worked in San Francisco for about five years—and have been living in Los Angeles the past few years. After having our second daughter we left the downtown LA area and purchased a home in lovely Valley Village. It would truly be a pleasure to serve this neighborhood and work to ensure Valley Village remains the magical place that it is.

Looking to bring accountability back to the community representative, to make Valley Village a cleaner and safer place.

Ray McIntosh

Ray McIntosh

My name is Ray McIntosh. I have been a homeowner in Valley Village for 20 years. I love our close-knit community and want to work to ensure we don’t lose what makes us special. As a homeowner, I like some of the changes that are taking place in our neighborhood, but other aspects of our evolution are less conducive to the quality of life that attracted me to Valley Village in the first place. There should be a healthy balance between development and protecting the things that make Valley Village unique and special. I want to be actively involved and I am willing to do the work necessary to ensure all voices are heard and that balance is achieved.

I grew up in Toluca Lake & attended our local public schools. I am a resident of Valley Village since 1998 & work in the community. I have been a board member of the Valley Village Residents Association since 2012 & currently hold the position of vice-president. I have been the VVRA July 4th Parade chair for the last 8 years. I have served on the NCVV board since 2007 & was secretary for 8 years & currently hold the treasurer position. I am on the PLU committee. I am involved in the Valley Village Neighborhood Watch & Community Emergency Response Team & work closely with local LAPD & LAFD officials. I believe smart development, tree conservation, safer streets, quality schools & sound infrastructure are key to keeping the integrity of our community intact. I believe that developers should abide by the VVL Specific Plan (now being updated as the Community Plan) and rarely an exception should be made. I look forward to being an advocate for homeowners, renter & stakeholders.

Sandy Hubbard

Sandy Hubbard

I have lived in Valley Village for the past 20 years and am dedicated to maintaining the neighborhood character of “our Village.” To achieve that goal, I think it is critical to the character of our neighborhood to maintain our socio-economic and racial diversity, and would like to rejoin the NCVV board to help facilitate efforts to maintain our unique housing stock mix and support creative alternatives to the development of affordable housing. I would be honored to have the opportunity to serve my community in this role, and would ask for your vote. —– Sandy Hubbard has previously served on the NCVV board, and is currently serving on the Valley Village Residents Association board. Her son graduated from North Hollywood High School in 2005, and she knows the quality of VV schools is an important aspect of VV life as well as Trees and Traffic. Sandy is a past-president of the Lake View Terrace Improvement Association and was instrumental in working on several land use issues there.

My husband and I have been Valley Village residents since 2013. We love our neighborhood for its diversity and sense of community. However, I have noticed over the past few years that our neighborhood is becoming louder and louder. A never ending cacophony of lawn equipment, construction noise, airplanes, helicopters, and even the occasional illegal drag race has made the decibel level all too high. If elected to the NCVV, I will work towards bringing down the volume. A solid start would be vigorous enforcement of LAMC 112.04 (c), passed by the LA City Council in 1998, which makes the use of any gas powered leaf blower within 500 feet of a residence illegal. This is the most ignored, unenforced law in the City, save perhaps for the speed limit. In an age when we are all worried about the effects of climate change on our communities, this is low hanging fruit in that battle and an excellent place to begin. I humbly ask for your support in this endeavor.

Paul Vitello

I have lived in & adjacent to Valley Village since 1958. As a child I rode my bike to school. It was safe, clean, it was a different time. Many things have changed since then. Working in my family’s business, the original Vitello’s, instilled in me an entrepreneurial spirit. My religious education, family upbringing, and old idioms such as: slow & steady wins the race; many hands make a light load; I am my brother’s keeper; inform my attitude of service. I believe consistent effort & perseverance can effect positive change! For more than 30 years I ran Vitello Productions a TV post-production service & now work with New York Life serving small business & families here in the valley. I have volunteered on Providence High School Board of Regents, Notre Dame High School Band Alumni Association, & currently as a SCORE business mentor. It would be an honor and privilege to serve on this council to advocate for a safer cleaner community as we move forward dealing with our current issues

The Pandemic has ravaged Los Angeles and we cannot wait for the dust to settle to move into action. My values and beliefs motivate me to be a passionate representative of Valley Village. My goals include: canceling rent, distributing the COVID-19 vaccine to highly impacted communities with little representation, and ensuring our essential workers have the necessary resources for a swift recovery. Other key issues I am passionate about include public transit, mutual aid, parks, and supporting our unhoused neighbors. Community building is essential and my vision calls on our community as a whole to band together for the greater good.
