Now is your opportunity to help shape the future of development and growth in Valley Village. Your NCVV Board of Directors successfully advocated for Valley Village to be a priority in the city’s efforts to update the 35 Los Angeles Community Plans. We are very excited to announce that the City’s community plan update process is now beginning a three-year effort to update the North Hollywood/Valley Village Community Plan. The hard work starts now.

Community Plans guide the physical development of neighborhoods by establishing goals and policies for land use. Most community plans have not been updated for more than 30 years. This has resulted in out-of-date planning and zoning regulations that frustrate everyone.

The Department of City Planning is currently in a ten-year effort to update each of the 35 Community Plans. Your NCVV Board has been preparing for this opportunity for over 2 years.

At our September 26 NCVV Board meeting we will officially kick-off our participation in the planning process with a presentation of goals and priorities for Valley Village. Please join us to learn more about the process, how long it will take, and most important – how you can help shape the future of Valley Village.

“This is an incredibly important process for the future of our neighborhood and we need the involvement of all of our neighbors, from the beginning of the process, to ensure we protect everything that makes Valley Village special,” said Glenn Block, Chair of the NCVV Board’s Community Planning Committee. “This is a comprehensive undertaking that will address quality of life, the character of our community, and a plan for responsible growth that will guide development for the next decade or more.”

The Planning Department is also hosting public meetings about this important work. Next month on October 15 the City will host its first “Open House” to provide an opportunity to hear from leaders in the City’s Planning Department about Community Planning for Valley Village (and North Hollywood). This is the first of four Town Hall forums where those in attendance will be able to ask direct questions of City Planners, and see detailed information about the three year process that will result in an updated Valley Village Community Plan.
