July 4th in Valley Village was perfect this year in just about every way. The weather was cool and breezy, a record number of neighbors stopped by in the morning to join Pastor Rich and NCVV Board members at Faith Presbyterian for the annual pre-parade pancake breakfast, and after a two year absence due to COVID the Valley Village Resident’s Association July 4th Parade returned. Led by the North Hollywood High School Band, hundreds of people with pets, decorated bikes, strollers and wagons lined up at Colfax School and then walked roughly one mile through hundreds more families and neighbors hosting house parties along the route. The parade ended at Valley Village park with ice cold watermelon waiting for everyone. This year’s organizers took full advantage of the 2022 election bringing in many city, county, state and federal elected officials including US Congresswoman and mayoral candidate Karen Bass, US Congressman Brad Sherman, County Supervisor Kathryn Barger, State Assemblymember Adrin Nazarian, and State Senator Bob Hertzberg.

“It’s been two+ years of Zooming and it was great to get out, hug and welcome old and new friends and neighbors” said Ginny Hatfield, Vice President of NCVV’s Board of Directors. NCVV’s Board extends heartfelt congratulations to VVRA Board member Dorothy Apple, VVRA Board President Beth Fulton and all of the VVRA Board members and volunteers for making such a special day possible and continuing this much loved Valley Village tradition.
