Councilmember Nazarian shared in his newsletter that the East Valley’s representative in Congress, Representative Luz Rivas, has come through again for District 2. The federal budget enacted the first week of February 2026 included $250,000 for a new state-of-the-art traffic signal at Colfax Avenue and Huston Street by Colfax Elementary School. This item has been on our priority list for federally funded community improvements.
A big thank you to Rep. Rivas! With this money we’ll be able to install a HAWK traffic signal at Colfax and Huston. This will mean a safer walk to and from school for the children of Colfax Elementary and safer streets for their Valley Village neighbors. Pedestrian safety is a major concern in this city, and the safety of our children always comes first.
