On Saturday September 27 hundreds of volunteers spread out over the San Fernando Valley to clean streets and sidewalks and pick up trash. The event kicked off at North Hollywood Park with comments from Mayor Karen Bass and City Councilman Adrin Nazarian. Then the volunteers went to work. More than 50 volunteers targeted Valley Village and collected almost 30 large bags of trash. The volunteers enjoyed a breakfast of muffins, fruit and juice, and thanks to the generosity of Joe Peep’s Pizza were served delicious pizzas for lunch.
2025 Congress of Neighborhoods
Also on Saturday September 27 the annual Congress of Neighborhoods was held at City Hall in downtown. The meeting brought together more than 700 people, many representing the city’s 99 Neighborhood Councils.
After a morning plenary session participants were able to attend breakout sessions to learn about a variety of topics from accessing city services to effective Board leadership to preparing for the next natural disaster.
The day featured comments from the Mayor and display tables for more than 40 city departments. Several members of NCVV’s Board and Student Committee participate in the all day meeting.
