For the past 2 years, your NCVV Board and members of the Planning and Land Use and the Valley Village Vision Committees have worked with noted landscape architect firm Troller Mayer to develop a plan to landscape the Valley Village section of the Tujunga Wash.  Located along the western boundary of Valley Village, this mile long section of the Wash is one of the few remaining Valley sections of the Wash/LA River that has not been developed for recreational and park use.

Under the direction of Dale Liebowitz-Neglia (Chair PLU) and Sandy Hubbard (former Chair VVV) the plan was produced with input from the two committee members, Board and local stakeholders.  Richard Mayer, Principal of Troller Mayer, personally supervised the development of the plan, which includes hiking paths, benches, play areas, an amphitheater, trash receptacles and doggy bag stations, and extensive drought tolerant landscaping.  The plan was funded by the NCVV Board of Directors.

“This is an exciting opportunity to bring much needed park space to the west side of Valley Village” said Marc Woersching, NCVV Board member and current chair of the Vision Committee.  “It is also the final critical component in the effort to fully landscape the Valley sections of both the Tujunga Wash and LA River.”  Woersching has been the driving force behind the accomplishment of the landscape plan, and will now help lead NCVV’s efforts to secure support for the project.

The final plan was presented to the NCVV Board in May.  An effort has now begun to identify the resources needed to develop the Valley Village portion of the Tujunga Wash.
