DESCRIPTION:Santa Monica Mountains Fund\, the official partner nonprofit at the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area\, is hosting a free narrowleaf milkweed giveaway at Cottonwood Urban Farm in Panorama City! \nNarrowleaf milkweed is a gorgeous native plant that serves as a host for monarch butterflies to lay their eggs. Monarch caterpillars feed exclusively on milkweed leaves. Help us restore the monarch butterfly population by picking up and caring for your own milkweed plants. \nWe will be giving away free narrowleaf milkweed at Cottonwood Urban Farm on July 20th from 9AM-12PM. Six plants per household will be given out to ensure hungry monarch caterpillars have enough to eat. \nWe will offer one English-language and one Spanish-language plant talk to share some great tips on how to care for your milkweed. \nPlanting instructions and additional info about our nursery: https://www.samofund.org/milkweed
