SUMMARY:Burbank Airport Noise Task Force
DESCRIPTION:We Need Your Support at Burbank Airport Meeting Tonight! \nAs you hopefully heard\, a large turnout at last month’s Burbank Airport Task Force meeting helped demonstrate the strength of our community.  Small groups of homeowners in Studio City and Sherman Oaks are trying to ban all flights over their homes\, and asking that all traffic be directed over Valley Village and neighboring areas filled with families and schools.\n\nTonight we must show our strong presence again.  Please join the Valley Village Homeowners Association and your friends and neighbors to help stop these homeowners who want to push more air traffic over your home.  The meeting is tonight\, February 19\, at the Burbank Airport Marriott\, 6:30pm to 9:30pm.    Be sure to sign in so that your voice is heard.\nParking fees for the self-parking lots at the L.A. Marriott-Burbank Airport/Convention Center will be hosted by the Airport Authority (please see a representative in the conference room for validation). As a courtesy for the other hotel guests\, please park in the area indicated in green (on the map).  In case all parking in this area is filled\, please move to the area indicated as Section D on the map. \nNote that the Airport Authority WILL NOT reimburse nor validate for valet parking at the hotel entrance.  Thank you for your courtesy in cooperating with our parking plan for your convenience. \nHave a question or comment? Please email taskforce@bur.org.

SUMMARY:Bang Bang You're Dead
DESCRIPTION:You are invited to the teen ensemble’s presentation of William Mastrosimone’s powerful play Bang\, Bang You’re Dead.  Performances are on Friday\, January 31\, 7PM\, February 1\, 3PM and 7PM and Sunday\, February 2\, 3PM.  Admission is free!\n\nWilliam Mastrosimone wrote this play in the late 1990s in response to a violent threat that occurred at his son’s high school.  He went on to create a play designed to be performed by students for students – its running time was to fit within a 45-minute class period.  It was first performed at Thurston High School in Oregon six months after the school suffered a school shooting.  The play was a powerful and healing experience for the community.  Mastrosimone then decided to offer the play for free via a website.  Students quickly started performing the play around the nation and the world.  Showtime Networks would eventually broadcast a movie that was inspired by the play.\n\nVillage Arts decided to take on this play to offer an opportunity for our students to create a piece that is sadly still relevant and where the cast could explore a different form of theatre that emphasized ensemble and collaboration.  It is our plan that this play is the first of many where our older students get to explore relevant topics that speak to them and their peers.\n\nDue to the topic parental discretion is advised\, as the play may not be suitable for children under 8 years old.
