Wesson\, Jr. was joined by Councilmembers Bob Blumenfield\, Paul Koretz and Nury Martinez in releasing the city’s draft regulations governing commercial cannabis activity on June 8\, 2017. The City Council is currently conducting a 60 day public comment period of the proposed requirements. \nThe Department of City Planning has prepared the proposed Commercial Cannabis Location Restriction Ordinance\, which would establish location restrictions and a limited immunity from enforcement of specified City prohibitions relating to commercial cannabis activity. In addition\, the Department has prepared an ordinance supplement with a land use review process option\, which the City Council may incorporate at its discretion. \nThe proposed ordinance has been assigned a City Planning case number of CPC-2017-2260-CA. Please reference this number when corresponding with the Department regarding this case. \nThe Department will conduct a public hearing to gather input on the proposed ordinance. This hearing has been scheduled for Thursday\, June 29\, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. in Los Angeles City Hall\, Room 1010. SUMMARY:Wildlife Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Los Angeles\, March 30\, 2017 – LA Animal Services will begin hosting Wildlife Workshops for the community starting this April through December at the City Animal Shelters throughout Los Angeles. Wildlife staff specialists will share educational information with residents on how to handle wild animal situations they may encounter in their neighborhood and help address concerns. \nWildlife live throughout the Los Angeles area and can usually be scene year round. Normally\, wildlife pose no threat to humans and keep their distance. However\, if they have access to food\, water and cover\, these animals may continue to return to certain areas and begin to lose their fear of humans which can potentially lead to them becoming aggressive. \nThe LA Animal Services Wildlife Division works to aid City residents in rectifying wildlife problems in their community and some of the uneasiness they may face with these animals. The program provides on-site evaluations\, education on methods of exclusion\, deterrents and discouragement of wildlife forays into urban neighborhoods. Wildlife are common and an important integral part of the ecosystem and circle of life. Mindful consideration of precautions and basic knowledge of wild animal behavior will create a manageable co-habitation between the community and local wildlife. \nResidents will learn all of this and more at the presentations.
