Neighborhood Council Valley Village is comprised of volunteers who are committed to our community. There are many ways to participate in NCVV:
Board of Directors
The governing body of Neighborhood Council Valley Village consists of 15 Board members elected by the stakeholders of our community. These Board members are representative of interests groups that include:
• 1 Education community representative
• 1 Faith Based community representative
• 1 Community Based Senior organization representative
• 1 Cultural Organization representative
• 1 Community Based Service organization representative
• 1 At-large representative (no specific affiliation)
• 3 Renters (including apartment, condo and single family dwellings)
• 3 Residential Homeowners
• 3 Business Owners/Representatives
There is also one student seat on the Board of Directors (non-voting).
All Board members must be stakeholders in Valley Village and be 18 years of age before Election Day. For more information on Board Service or the Election, contact the Elections Chair Ginny Hatfield in order to assure office.
Committees
The Neighborhood Council Valley Village Board has five committees that do much of the work of the Board and serve as important liaisons to the Board or issues related to the community. Anyone can volunteer to work with the Committees.
Communications
Chaired by Suzanne Lewis
The Communications Committee is responsible for The Bridge, our NCVV Newsletter, myvalleyvillage.com, the NCVV website, and all outreach and communications efforts to our stakeholders on behalf of NCVV and the city. The Communications Committee meets once per month and more often as needed.
Elections
Chaired by Ginny Hatfield
The Elections Committee is responsible for conducting the annual election for NCVV's Board of Directors. The committee meets primarily during the 6 months before and one month after the annual election. The election date is set by NCVV bylaws for the 3rd Wednesday of October.
Planning and Land Use
Chaired by Greg O'Connor
The Planning and Land Use Committee is responsible for ensuring that projects proposed within Valley Village are compliant with city ordinances and codes and more importantly, that they adhere to the Specific Plan of Valley Village. The Planning and Land Use Committee meets on the 2nd Wednesday of every month. Projects Chaired by The Projects Committee is responsible for any annual, special events or community enhancement projects that occur in Valley Village. The Projects Committee meets monthly and more often as needed.
Volunteer
There are many opportunities to volunteer on behalf of NCVV. Special events like the annual Valley Village Birthday Party and the Valley Village 4th of July Parade, both sponsored along with the Homeowners Association, provide many opportunities to volunteers. We also always need volunteers to help with the election in October, and for “National Night Out in August.” For more information on how you can volunteer, contact NCVV's Vice President Ginny Hatfield at 818-759-8204.
