Neighborhood Watch Program | LAPD
Neighborhood Watch, Block Watch, Town Watch, Crime Watch – whatever the name, it’s one of the most effective and least costly ways to prevent crime and reduce fear in your neighborhood. Neighborhood Watch Programs fight the isolation and separation that crime creates and feeds upon. It forges bonds among area residents and businesses, helps reduce burglaries and robberies, and improves relations between police and the communities they serve. September is National Preparedness Month
September marks FEMA’s National Preparedness Month, which strives to remind U.S. citizens to prepare for disasters or emergencies in their homes, businesses, and communities. The goal is to transform awareness into action by encouraging citizens to ensure they are prepared for disasters and emergencies. FEMA encourages individuals, businesses and organizations to commit to doing at least one of the following:
- Learn about emergency hazards and their appropriate responses
- Build an emergency kit
- Make a communications plan
- Get involved in preparedness in their community
Earthquake Safety / ShakeOut
Participating in the ShakeOut, and encouraging others to participate, is a great way to accomplish each of these commitments!
